Highlights from October updates in Rally, including a few quality of life improvements to managing media within the collaborative video editor.

Download cards as video clips

You can now export video clips for an individual card, instead of the entire story. This is useful for grabbing part of a larger story to feature on social media, or highlight something specific with customers.

Right click the card you want to export, then select Download from the context menu. The downloaded clip will use the card's title as a file name. Keep in mind you may need to publish the story first, to capture the latest changes in the exported video.

Clip management: Rename and swap active content

Following last month's editor updates focused on layout, this month we've added a few new options to help you better manage media after uploading or recording.

This includes an option to rename content and narration media from the sidebar. It was fun trying to figure out what Alice's Recording 23.mp4 contained, but this should make managing multiple options a little simpler within your team.

Improved

  • Added a context menu for cards in the editor. Right click a card to see available options.

  • Added hotkeys for the video editor including Shift + to add a new card after the currently selected card. See more under the context menu.

  • Added a live preview of the embed when adjusting settings via Share โ†’ Embed Settings

  • Hovering over a person's avatar will now display basic identifying information.

  • The preflight recording view now includes all layout options found in the editor, so you can stage and preview the framing before adding a new narration.

Fixed

  • Fixed issues where cropping or looping a video would cause the preview to disappear from the editor, with zero warning or manners.

  • Uploading two files with the same name will now receive different labels, instead of replacing the previous version.

  • Fixed issue where an unpublished story would incorrectly show the public share icon.

  • Fixed issue where viewing a story's table of contents would make the video scrubber super tiny.

  • Links in the story description now respect both light and dark mode.
